Q: What is the Hendrickson Method®?

A: The Hendrickson Method is composed of 3 main techniques: A stroke called Wave Mobilization®, joint mobilization, and gentle neurological techniques called Muscle Energy Technique. (M.E.T.) More can be read about the method and to see these techniques in action at http://hendricksonmethod.com/three-techniques-of-hendrickson-method/

The combination of these 3 techniques provides a gentle, deeply clinically effective treatment for soft tissue injuries, pain, and has a profoundly positive effect on the nervous system.

Q: What should I wear for clothing for my treatment?

A: Sessions are done fully clothed, no oil or massage cream is used. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing is suggested. Yoga style clothing or gym clothing is acceptable as well. Please do not wear any type of thick, tough fiber clothes like blue jeans or thick cotton. If you wear a dress, please wear some type of flexible or loose type of pants or shorts underneath the dress. You may be asked to move around the table a bit, and be asked to perform against gentle resistance techniques.

Q: What would a typical treatment look like?

A: The Hendrickson Method is performed mostly in a side-lying position if it is comfortable for the client. The client will have a head pillow and other pillows to support the upper and lower body. It is also common for a client to be face up, seated and occasionally be face down for parts of the treatment. Gentle, rhythmic strokes are performed in specific areas of the body that positively effect the whole body, especially the nervous system. At the same time, joints are being rhythmically moved to decrease stiffness and promote synovial fluid to be released in the joint to help the joint have more lubrication. Gentle resistance techniques and stretching are interspersed throughout the treatment. Because of this, the treatment gives the client more of a participatory awareness and experience in their healing.
